Earlier today, Rockstar Games announced a companion app for Red Dead Rdemption 2. The app will connect directly with your Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in real time.
The app will have a handful of features including examining Arthur’s in-game Journal, a tracker for the Social Club, the games full digital manual and an optional digital version of the Red Dead Redemption 2 Complete Official Guide from Piggyback.
The main use for the app, though, will be it’s use of the world map. You will be view the game map from your phone or tablet. Within the app, you can pan and zoom the map and set waypoints or other areas of interest which should make exploring much more fluid and accessible.
Along with all this, you will be able to see Arthur’s info and stats in from your device, allowing you to completely get rid of the HUD in game.
My only real experience with companion apps was with Fallout 4 and I have to say, if this is anywhere close to as smooth as that, I’m very excited to explore the wild west with this.
Downloads will be available for both Android and iOS starting October 26th (Friday).
