Telltale Games has reportedly been hit with large scale layoffs today while only keeping a small number of employees on staff.
The Verge reports that the employees retained numbers around 25, most likely kept to wrap up loose ends and finish up the final season of The Walking Dead which launched last month and releases the second episode September 25th.
Previously announced projects, such as the game based off Netflix’s Stranger Things and the second season of The Wolf Among Us have been cancelled. Since the story is still developing, it isn’t established if this signals the official closure of the studio, though it certainly doesn’t look otherwise. Other developers have sprung into action on twitter, such as Santa Monica Studios, offering sympathies and encouraging those affected to reach out for job opportunities.
We will update this story as more information comes to light, we wish those affected by this situation the best as they move forward.
