During Microsoft’s E3 conference, Todd Howard surprised the audience by showing up and debuting a new trailer for Fallout 76.  Why show a trailer for their new IP when Bethesda had their own conference later that day? Well it seems Bethesda and Microsoft have a bit of a close relationship

A FAQ page was created for the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A (Break-it Early Test Application) answering questions about the beta, pre-orders, and redemption codes. Among the answers, it was revealed that the Fallout 76 beta will be available on the Xbox One before other platforms. So it seems the beta will be a timed exclusive for Microsoft. Check out the full FAQ here.

The question addressing the issue asks: “When and on what platforms will the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A be available?” Followed with:

  • A: The B.E.T.A. will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and on PC (via Bethesda.net). Stay tuned for exact timing for each platform here and @Fallout on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Please note that the B.E.T.A. for Xbox One will begin first, followed by other platforms.

There has been no official announcement by either company about the supposed exclusive partnership and it is currently unknown if the companies made a deal for the Xbox One to get access to the game first. One thing worth mentioning, on the official Bethesda website, the Xbox logo appears before the trailer for the game begins.

So it seems Xbox One users will be the first to explore the barren wasteland of Fallout 76 but for how long? And will the exclusivity continue on to the official game? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Fallout 76 is scheduled to launch on November 14, 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
